The three ways to wear every bow
| Style | Best for | Age range | Why moms love it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soft nylon band | Babies with little or no hair | Newborn β 18 mo | Stretchy, no hard parts, won't leave a mark |
| Headwrap | A cozy, wider vintage look | Newborn β 2 yrs | Soft fabric band, stays put, photo-ready |
| Alligator clip | Toddlers & girls with hair | 9 mo β 5 yrs | Grips even a few strands; quick on/off |
Nylon headband sizing by age
Our nylon bands are one-size stretch and gentle on delicate heads. As a rough guide to head circumference:
| Age | Approx. head circumference | Recommended style |
|---|---|---|
| Newborn (0β3 mo) | 13β15 in (33β38 cm) | Nylon band |
| Baby (3β12 mo) | 15β18 in (38β46 cm) | Nylon band or headwrap |
| Toddler (1β3 yrs) | 18β20 in (46β51 cm) | Headwrap or clip |
| Girl (3β5 yrs) | 20β21 in (51β53 cm) | Alligator clip |
Safety first π Headbands and clips are accessories for supervised wear. Never leave a baby unattended while wearing a bow, and remove it during sleep. See our terms for full safety guidance.
How to measure your little one's head
Wrap a soft tape measure (or a piece of string you then measure against a ruler) around the widest part of the head β just above the ears and eyebrows. Compare to the table above. When in doubt, the stretchy nylon band fits the widest range.
Frequently asked questions
What size headband should I get for a newborn?
Our soft nylon bands stretch to fit newborns through toddlers. For newborns (0β3 months), the nylon band is the gentlest choice β it has no hard parts and stretches to about 13β14 inches without leaving marks.
What's the difference between a nylon band, headwrap, and alligator clip?
A nylon band is a soft stretchy headband great for babies with little or no hair. A headwrap is a wider fabric band for a cozier, vintage look. An alligator clip attaches to even a few strands of hair and is best for toddlers and older girls.
Will the nylon headband leave a mark on my baby's head?
No β our nylon bands are ultra-soft and designed to stretch gently. They don't dig in or leave marks when sized correctly, and should always be worn with adult supervision and removed during sleep.
What age are the bows for?
Our bows fit babies and toddlers from newborn through about age 5, depending on the attachment. Nylon bands suit the youngest; clips suit toddlers with more hair.
